Internationals have come to Louisville from around the world. Some are students, health care workers, business people, and refugees, bringing their families with them. Some internationals have come because they have family who already live here in the area.
Internationals have been coming to our city for a long time. Thirty years ago Baptist women of Long Run Baptist Association saw a need in our growing international community and responded with a program called "Friendship International Ministry". Each year the number of internationals enrolling in the program increases.
Through Friendship International Ministry, internationals from every part of the world have learned English, Bible, Citizenship, and Creative Activities such as: pottery, cooking, crafts, quilting, and sewing. Driver's education (book only), piano, and computer class are also available. The most important goal is FRIENDSHIP. Friendships established in the program may last a lifetime.
